Slow Dance Project: Love Letters to Ness

Slow Dance Project is a social practice that invites the audience to reflect on the experience of dancing to slow songs. It is inspired by the caretaking experience of my wife (Ness) who has stage four metastatic breast cancer, which has taken away the use of her legs. I began to  notice that when lifting her, it resembled a slow dance in its gentle sway and subtle movements, which I also saw in other cancer patients during hospital visits. This project is for those who want to slow down, stretch out time, and be present in this type of embrace. It is especially for those for whom time is precious.

Most importantly, it is encouraged for other communities to produce their own Slow Dance Project and take ownership of it with their own subheading. We hope you include contacting your local cancer patient community and provide an accessible space.
